An Insulation Resistance Tester (also known as a megohmmeter or megger) is a specialized electrical testing instrument used to measure the resistance of electrical insulation in wires, motors, transformers, and other electrical equipment. By applying a high DC voltage, it detects insulation degradation, which can lead to dangerous leakage currents, short circuits, or equipment failure.
