A glass thermometer is a temperature-measuring device in which the temperature-sensitive liquid (mercury, alcohol, or other dyed fluids) is enclosed in a sealed glass capillary tube. As temperature changes, the liquid expands or contracts, allowing the temperature to be read from a calibrated scale.
